The Quarrymen, a blues/jazz group were formed in 1957 by Lennon and McCartney joined in July of that year. Harrison joined the band on lead guitar in 1958. The Quarrymen’s original drummer, Colin Hanton, left the band in 1959. The band proceeded to have a high drummer turnover and name changes, settling to The Beatles in 1960 to honor The Crickets and Buddy Holly. Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr) joined the band in 1962 after drummer Pete Best was dismissed. The Beatles broke up in 1970.
